- colored cardstock (colors of your choice)
- white cardstock
- glue stick
INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING EASY FATHER’S DAY CARD
Step 1: Begin by downloading the printable fish card template. Choose which version of the fishing card you want to make and print out the template pages needed on cardstock paper.
We used colored cardstock for the fish body and fins section of the template and white cardstock for the eyes.
You could also print the entire template on white cardstock and have children color the fish with crayons, colored pencils or markers. This is a great option if your resources are limited and you have a large group of children.

We have such a fun variety of template options to choose from. We also have a blank version for you to customize however you’d like. The three different message options for the inside of the card we have for Dad and Grandpa are:
- I couldn’t fish for a better Dad!
- Dad, You’re “o-FISH-ally” awesome!
- Dad, You’re Fin-tastic!
Step 2: Cut out each of the pieces of the template.

Step 3: Fold the fish body in half along the solid line in the middle of the template to create a greeting card.
Step 4: Use markers to decorate and add scales and details to each of the pieces of the template. For the fins we drew lines to add definition to them.

On the fish body draw a line near the front of the fish to separate the face from the body. Then draw half circles from the top of the face to the bottom of the fish body to create scales on your fish.
Step 5: Draw and color in a black eye pupil inside the eye piece of the template.

Step 6: Add glue onto each of the fin pieces and glue them on the Father’s Day card. Then glue the fish eye at the front of the card.
Step 7: Finish your Father’s Day fishing card by drawing a mouth on your fish. You might want to draw a big smile or an open O fish mouth.
YOUR FISHING CARD IS READY TO GIVE TO DAD ON FATHER’S DAY
Maybe you can surprise Dad or grandpa with some new fishing supplies to go along with your card. He might also love a bag of fish candies for a special treat on Father’s Day.
Another fun idea would be to have a photoshoot of your children dressed in Daddy’s boots and holding his fishing pole. Print the photo and put it in a frame with the saying “Trying so hard to walk in your shoes.”
Check out how we used this “walk in your shoes” idea several years ago for Father’s Day.
